A Healthy Back-to-School Season Starts With Your Kines Family Pharmacy

As the summer ends and the fall approaches, families will switch gears from vacation mode to school preparation. While you have checklists for every school supply you might need, we recommend adding your children’s health and wellness to that growing list. Your Kines Family Pharmacy is here to help parents and kids to stay healthy during the new school year and beyond.

Kids’ Health & Wellness

Start the school year with a trip to Kines Family Pharmacy for all your over-the-counter purchases. For a healthy start to the school year, consider the following items:

  • Multivitamins – The foods we eat do not give adequate vitamins and minerals to support growth and development. Multivitamins are a great way to supplement the body’s necessary nutrients.

  • Vitamin C – schools are full of germs, and Vitamin C can help protect your kids’ immune system as they return to class.

  • Elderberry – Available in syrup and kid-friendly gummy form, elderberry helps reduce the duration of colds.

  • First aid kit– Kines Family Pharmacy helps prepare you for inevitable scrapes, cuts, and bruises this school year.

  • Probiotics – promote gut health that will help keep the stomach bugs away.

Stop by the pharmacy counter for a recommendation from your Kines Family Pharmacy pharmacist for more items to add to your back-to-school health and wellness shopping list.

Continued COVID Awareness

There have been significant improvements when it comes to understanding COVID-19. Recently, the FDA approved Novavax, which uses a different technology than previously available COVID-19 vaccines. This two-dose vaccine is only recommended for people 18 and older. Your neighborhood Kines Family Pharmacy will notify you as soon as we add this vaccine to our arsenal.

For a booster or vaccine, our Kines Family pharmacists still administer vaccines during your appointments. For those experiencing COVID or flu symptoms, we are happy to provide at-home tests to keep you and your loved ones safe. If you test positive, the CDC has provided a Quarantine and Isolation Interactive Tool with the most up-to-date guidelines on masking, isolation, and when it’s safe to resume public activities.

August is National Immunization Awareness Month

The CDC has designated the month of August as National Immunization Awareness Month. This image depicts a cartoon bandage.

“This annual observance highlights the importance of getting recommended vaccines throughout your life,” states Christina Howerton, Manager/Marketing and New Media at National Health Council.

Many children are not correctly vaccinated with limited medical resources during the pandemic. Your Kines Family Pharmacy pharmacist can discuss the CDC Child Vaccine Schedule with you to help bridge the health gap with missing immunizations. Vaccine-preventable diseases include:

  • Meningitis

  • Diphtheria

  • Tetanus

  • Measles

  • Mumps

  • Rubella

Immunization isn’t just for children but for their parents as well. With flu season approaching, a Kines Family Pharmacy pharmacist can help with any vaccinations you might need. We understand doctor’s offices have been heavily impacted by the pandemic and hope to make every accommodation necessary to get you vaccinated hassle-free. Don’t wait for an immunization that your Kines Family Pharmacy pharmacist can administer. Come in today for an adult vaccine consultation!
